UPDATE AND CORRECTION #2 of 2

The leak is in an existing line located under the road in the construction site between Wean and Roberts.  CDFD contractors, Ruthrauf-Sauer, are mobilizing to expedite a previously planned bypass of the leaking line.  They expect completion by close of day Tuesday.  FMS will send out an additional update as soon as possible.

Currently all of Scaife Hall and a significant portion of Hamerschlag Hall are without chilled water.  The Hamerschlag B-level machine room and the F-level clean room are not affected.

UPDATE:  CHILLED WATER LEAK HAS BEEN LOCATED, it is on the line newly installed.  Mechanics will isolate the leak and restore pressure to the chilled water system serving the campus as before the new line was energized.

This will take hours to isolate, repair and for occupants to feel the effect of cooling.  Right now Roberts and Hamerschlag Hall except for the Clean Room have no cooling.  The buildings on the east side of campus, Tepper, Posner Center, CFA, and Hunt will experience

low chilled water pressure and warmer temperatures.

SUBJECT: Leak on Main Campus Chilled Water Loop 7/19/13

There is active leak on the chilled water loop serving main campus, which was noticed because of a drop of pressure in the Wean Hall Chiller Plant.

All FMS AC mechanics are searching for the location of the leak.  The buildings on east side of campus will notice the loss of cooling in their spaces first.

Update will be forthcoming.
