TO:  Hamerschlag Hall, Scaife Hall and Porter Hall Facility Coordinators and Shutdown Group

FROM:  Service Response Center

DATE:  February 26, 2014

SUBJECT: Hamerschlag Hall, Scaife Hall and Porter Hall Chilled Water Shutdown 3/7 -3/10

Campus chilled water will be interrupted to Hamerschlag Hall, Scaife Hall and Porter Hall starting at 7:30 AM on Friday, March 7th and will remain down throughout that weekend.  Chilled water service is expected to be restored and full cooling capabilities enabled in these buildings by 9:00 AM on Monday, March 10th.  This shutdown is necessary to continue the rerouting of utilities around Scott Hall and to prepare for the future connection of that building to the campus chilled water system.

Most spaces will be unaffected because they can use outside air for cooling at this time of the year.  Project and FMS personnel have been working with facilities and IT support personnel in these building to identify and provide alternative cooling to major computing centers that require year-round mechanical cooling.  We believe that we have accounted for all of these needs.  However, please contact us if you have such a year-round mechanical cooling need and have not been contacted regarding this outage.

No other utility services will be affected.  For further information, please contact Marty Altschul (8-2529, ma3q@cmu.edu).
