SUBJECT: Hamerschlag Hall – Window Replacement Process
Through coordination with FMS, Campus Design and Facility Development has started the process to review window replacements within Hamerschlag Hall.
In order to properly outline necessary replacements, the architects will need to measure and inspect windows throughout the building. They have done a general review of the 5 major window types and several smaller scale misc. windows. The design team will be field measuring one of each of the 5 types (1-2 Hours) and verifying the remaining windows (10-120 Minutes), as well as field measuring the misc. windows. They anticipate 2 days on site to document the windows, 10/21 and 10/22.
Upon completion of the site measurements, our architect will create construction documents in order to bid the window replacement scope. FMS and CDFD’s goal is to replace windows throughout the building, with a hierarchy focusing on deficiency and remaining lifespan. The replacement process is anticipated to begin Summer 2016 and continue through subsequent summer phases as funds are made available.
We greatly appreciate your help and consideration during this process as we do our best to restore such a large piece of CMU’s history. Any questions or concerns may be directed to the CDFD Project Manager, Brennen Garrison, fbg@andrew.cmu.edu.
