SUBJECT: Warner Hall HVAC Switching From Heating to Cooling Today 4/20
The unpredictable weather during seasonal transitions creates a challenge for the HVAC system in Warner Hall – when to switch the building from heating to cooling. Unfortunately, due to the building design and age of the infrastructure, it is not possible to have both heating and cooling. As all the long-term occupants of the building know, the date for switching from winter heating to summer cooling is determined based on weather.
FMCS has been monitoring the extended weather forecast which shows a warming trend with daytime highs reaching the 80’s today and all next week. Based on input from building occupants, the switch from heating to cooling for Warner Hall will be activated today (4/20) and should be available midday. If you are in a perimeter workspace, please check your local HVAC unit this afternoon and call the FCMS Service Response Center at
X8-2910 if it is not providing cooling.
Since there may be a spring chill in the air, please remember to close your windows before leaving at the end of the day (remember that it snowed at commencement last year!). We thank you for your patience during this transition.
For questions and concerns about the switch from heating to cooling in Warner Hall, please call the FMCS Zone Manager, John Duvall at 412-527-5603 or email jduv@andrew.cmu.edu.
