TO:  Shutdown Group, Warner Hall Residents

FROM:  Service Response Center

DATE:  May 18, 2017

SUBJECT: Warner Hall Elevator Replacement Update

As you know, the Warner Hall elevator will be closed for several weeks beginning the evening of May 22nd. The Equal Opportunities Office is taking the lead to identify individual staff needing alternate arrangements during this time.  In addition, there are a number of operational functions that also will need alternative arrangements during this shutdown. We know that departments have already been thinking through many of these and we appreciate their foresight and effort.

·         In order to ensure that visitors are directed in a timely fashion, notices will be posted and a temporary staff person (Matthew Lizik) will be stationed in CCR West. Department Leadership, please send Jennifer McDowell, jmcdowell@cmu.edu, the best contact information for each of your departments by Friday, May 19th so that your visitors may be directed as appropriate.

·         Mail delivery will remain the same. However, UPS and FedEx packages will be delivered to CCR West for pick up. FMCS will be available to assist with delivery of large items. However, we strongly encourage you to place orders for large deliveries (e.g., copy paper, water) as soon as possible.

·         CCR East will be prioritized for Warner Hall residents. The scheduling process will remain the same.

·         There will be a chair stationed at each level’s elevator lobby for your use.

·         There are AED defibrillators located in the 1st floor and 6th Floor elevator lobbies.

·         University Police will be providing additional building and stairwell sweeps to address any emergency or health related concerns.

·         Due to the increased traffic flow in the stairwells, please stay to the right as you ascend and descend.

We will continue to send updates throughout this project.

Thank you again for your patience.
