SUBJECT: Reduce Electric Power Demand 7/12
Our campus has been requested to participate in a one-hour test of our ability to reduce electrical power requirements. The test period is Wednesday, 7/12, from 3:00PM – 4:00PM. During this time, FMS personnel will be turning off air conditioning systems in unoccupied spaces and will allow temperatures to vary more widely than usual in non-critical occupied spaces. We ask for your cooperation in this effort by doing the following:
þ Turn off lights that are not necessary
þ Turn off all non-essential electrical equipment
þ Turn equipment off when you leave for the day (examples – window air conditioners, computers, printers, copiers)
þ Notify FMS if you have non-registrar and large spaces that will be unoccupied during this timeframe
Please see the attached document for more information on demand response and why these tests are important.
Thank you for your help in making this happen. If you have any questions, contact the Service Response Center at X2910 or fixit@andrew.cmu.edu.
