UPDATE/ REMINDER  

Water is scheduled to be shutoff tomorrow, 12/19, starting at 2:00PM.  The following buildings will be taken offline in the order listed below.  It will take a few hours for all of the locations to be affected.

Water will be restored to the below locations, in the order listed, on Wednesday, 12/20, starting at 8:00AM.  It will take a few hours before water is restored to all locations.

UPDATE – FMS contractors, along with PWSA, will be replacing 2 large valves at the Forbes/Beeler intersection starting on Monday, 12/18, through Thursday, 12/21.   This work will include preparation, line repair, backfill and roadway repair which will take all 4 evenings.

Water is scheduled to be shut off ONLY on Tuesday night – the other three nights will not require any interruption of water service.  The water will be shut off at 5:00PM on Tuesday night, 12/19, and will be back on by 6:00AM Wednesday morning, 12/20.  The same buildings affected by the test shutdown done earlier this week will be affected during this time.   

Buildings will start coming back online starting at 6:00AM on 12/20.  Margaret Morrison Carnegie Hall will be the first building back online.  The remaining buildings will be brought back online throughout the day, with all expected to be in service by early afternoon.

There will be lane restrictions in this area every night starting at 7:00PM until 6:00AM the next morning.

UPDATE – Water has been restored to some of the buildings affected.  FMS has started bringing the other buildings impacted  back online, but it will take a couple of hours before water is restored to all of the buildings.

UPDATE – The PWSA test shutdown to isolate the Forbes/Beeler water line today was successful. 

Water has been restored to all the buildings affected by this shutdown. 

A notice will be sent out when a date has been set for the more permanent repair that will need to happen.

UPDATE –  The domestic water shutdown previously announced for tomorrow will occur instead from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Wednesday, 12/6/2017.  See below for the list of buildings that will be affected.  Additionally, work will take place tomorrow in preparation for Wednesday’s shutdown.  Forbes Avenue will be restricted to one lane in either direction at the intersection with Beeler Street Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Because of this traffic restriction, the east exit of the East Campus Garage will be closed while this work takes place.

UPDATE – The domestic water shutdown will occur tomorrow, 12/5, from 10:00AM – 3:00PM.  The following buildings may be affected:

–          Student Residences on the East side of Margaret Morrison Street

–          Donner House

–          Margaret Morrison Carnegie Hall

UPDATE – FMS is coordinating with PWSA on a Forbes Street water line repair that will require a 4 hour domestic water shutdown.  The tentative date and time for this shutdown is Tuesday, 12/5, between the hours of 9:00AM and 3:00PM.  Permits have been submitted with the city and PWSA for this work.  Pending approval of these permits we will be able to provide more details regarding this shutdown. 

The following buildings may be affected:

–          Student Residences on the East side of Margaret Morrison Street

–          Donner House

–          Margaret Morrison Carnegie Hall

–          Skibo Gym

This water shutdown will affect the use of restrooms, water fountains and kitchens.

Any updates regarding this shutdown will be sent as soon as we receive more information.

UPDATE – PWSA will be doing some exploratory digging today, 11/28, near Forbes and Beeler Street.  This may cause some disruption to traffic.

We will continue to send updates as we receive additional information from PWSA.

UPDATE – PWSA has determined that they need to replace 2 large valves at the Forbes-Beeler intersection.  The second valve was only ordered recently and no work is planned for the next several days.  No determination has been made as to when this work will occur or whether it will result in any disruption to any CMU facilities.  We will provide an update when more information is available.

UPDATE – Based on information provided by PWSA on the site this afternoon, our current estimate for the timing of any water disruption from this repair is no earlier than Friday, November 24th.  We have requested that any work that would result in water disruption to be scheduled over the Thanksgiving break.  In the meantime, PWSA will begin exploratory work in Forbes Ave in the vicinity of Beeler St.  This will cause some disruptions to traffic and may require occasional closures of the Beeler St. exit from the East Campus Garage.

We will send out another notification when we have a more definitive schedule from PWSA or noon on Tuesday, November 21^st if their plans are still fluid at that time.

UPDATE – We are still waiting for more information from PWSA.  An update will be sent at 4:00PM.

UPDATE – Based on the results found during Wednesday and Thursday’s work, PWSA is now taking the lead on repairing the water line. 

No additional information is available at this time.  We will continue communicating with PWSA regarding this work and will send updates at 12:30PM and 4:00PM today.

SUBJECT: Forbes/Beeler Street Water Line Work 11/15 – 11/16

Work will begin this evening, 11/15, at 7:00PM through 6:00AM tomorrow, 11/16, to repair the leaking water line at the intersection of Forbes Ave and Beeler St.  This work will require lane restrictions at Forbes Ave as well as limitations at the entrance and exit on the North side of the East Campus Garage.  The excavations will be steel plated and the roadway will open for normal traffic at 6:00AM on 11/16.

This work may require a water shutdown that could impact the following buildings: Woodlawn Apartments, Spirit House, Roselawn Houses, Margaret Morrison Apartments, all Hill Dorms, Donner House, Margaret Morrison Carnegie Hall and Skibo Gym.

In the event of a water shutdown, the anticipated hours of this shutdown would be between the approximate hours of 12:00AM and 4:00AM.  Portable toilets  will be placed in the following locations: one between Woodlawn and Spirit House, four units at Roselawn Houses, six units at the Hill Dorms and two behind Donner House.

The locker rooms at the University Center Pool will be open overnight if showering facilities are needed.

An updated notice will be sent tomorrow for any follow-up work required.
