SUBJECT: Work on Morewood Avenue – Between Greek Quad and Morewood Gardens

The University is working on upgrading the aging infrastructure (Water Lines/ Steam Lines) and Landscaping along Morewood Avenue this Summer. Please see below for details associated with this work:

Water Line – Valve Replacement – 5/21 – 5/25

As part of the Morewood Gardens bathroom and HVAC upgrade project, the main water service to Morewood Gardens will be replaced.  This work will be done from 9:00AM – 4:00PM each day.  There will be single lane closures on Morewood Avenue to facilitate this work and flaggers will be on site to redirect traffic. Steam Lines Replacement – 5/21 – 8/10

The Steam  & Condensate line replacement starts at Morewood Gardens , across Morewood Avenue and into the Parking Lot between 1085, 1079, continuing past Alumni House and the parking lot behind 5031 & 5033. ( Attached Scope of Work )

Morewood Avenue will be impacted as follows from 5/29 – 6/8:

·         Morewood Avenue will be closed for through traffic, with no Access to Forbes Avenue, between the hours of 7:00AM and 5:00PM on weekdays only.

·         Localized Access to CMU personnel and affiliated entities will be available from Fifth Avenue – no through access to Forbes.

·         All access for pick-ups and drop-offs to CMU Housing Buildings and Cyert Center will be available.

·         Pedestrian Access to sidewalks will be maintained during this time.

·         Upon crossing Morewood Avenue, work will continue in the Parking Lot between 1085, 1079 and further down past Alumni House and behind 5031 & 5033.

Landscaping Patio Work – 5/29 – August 2018

Equipment and materials will be staged along Forbes and Morewood Avenue for the landscaping and patio work at 1091 and 1079 starting on 5/29.   Work will begin at 1091 the following week and then move to 1079.  It is anticipated that all the work will be completed in early August.
