SUBJECT: Mellon Institute Drinking Water Sampling- 7/11/19

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) will be conducting routine drinking water sampling in Mellon Institute starting June 11, 2019 and ending approximately June 27, 2019. This sampling will help us better understand the current condition of the drinking water at Mellon Institute and so that the University can provide the highest quality working environment.

All potential drinking water outlets, such as water fountains, bottle fillers, and kitchen sinks, will be sampled in accordance with the following schedule:

  • EHS will remove the outlet from service in the afternoon around approximately 2-4 PM, posting signage indicating that the outlet is not to be used.
  • The following day at approximately 7-9 AM, EHS will collect a sample of the water.
  • The signage will be removed immediately after sampling and the outlet will be available for use.

Samples will be collected on a rotating basis so that not all outlets, in particular water fountains, are unavailable for use. Posted signage will indicate where alternative drinking water sources can be found. If you cannot find another outlet, a water cooler is also available for use in the third floor lounge located next to the Mellon Store Room.
