SUBJECT: Duquesne Light Power Issue
Campus buildings in the Morewood and Craig Street corridors may have experienced a momentary power disruption this evening due to a Duquesne Light power surge. The power issue did not affect buildings served from the main campus electrical system or Mellon Institute. FMS crews are checking systems in buildings with electric service directly from Duquesne light and we recommend departments remotely review their equipment to confirm normal operation. Buildings affected may include:
· Tepper
· Housing buildings along Morewood
· Buildings along Craig Street
· Buildings along Fifth Avenue
The power issue occurred at approximately 5:30PM and power from Duquesne Light remains on. However, issues with Duquesne Light power supply can cause breakers to trip, momentary voltage sags, phase imbalances or power spikes that may impact sensitive electrical components. Anything powered down for the campus closure would not be affected. We recommend remotely confirming that any operating systems are still on-line and normal.
FMS staff are available for on-campus support to visually verify anything that can’t be reviewed remotely. Please contact our Service Response Center at 412.268.2910 for assistance.
