SUBJECT: Duquesne Light Power Issue
All buildings may have experienced a momentary power surge this afternoon due to a Duquesne Light power issue that could have affected their high voltage distribution to the Oakland area. FMS crews are checking systems in buildings and we recommend departments remotely review their equipment to confirm normal operation.
The power issue occurred at approximately 12:30PM and power from Duquesne Light remains on. However, issues with Duquesne Light power supply can cause breakers to trip, momentary voltage sags, phase imbalances or power spikes that may impact sensitive electrical components. Anything powered down for the campus closure would not be affected. We recommended remotely confirming that any operating systems are still on-line and normal.
FMS staff are available for on-campus support to visually verify anything that can’t be reviewed remotely. Please contact our Service Response Center at 412.268.2910 for assistance.
