SUBJECT: Newell Simon/Wean Halls Pedestrian Bridge Painting Starting 5/15
The pedestrian bridge connecting Newell Simon and Wean Halls will be painted this summer. Contractors will mobilize on 5/15. The work will take approximately 6-8 weeks to complete, depending on weather. While access through Hamerschlag Drive will remain, there may be intermittent closures during the week of 5/15 to attach scaffolding to the bridge. The Drive may also be reduced to 1 lane access at various times.
The bridge will not close to pedestrian traffic, as all work is being performed on the exterior. ADA access into Wean at the Hamerschlag Drive entrance will continue to exist but will be surrounded by scaffolding. Wayfinding signage will be placed in the area. Also, water overspray will be likely during the preparation process. The contractor will have a system to catch particles from the preparation process and paint overspray. However, those walking through the area should be aware that this could still be possible.
