SUBJECT: Frew Street Summer Utility Improvement Project
Frew Street will be undergoing a utility improvement project which will impact the vehicular and pedestrian traffic this summer. The first phase of this project will be located adjacent to Porter Hall and Baker-Porter Hall. Underground utilities in this area will be installed under the campus sidewalk in 3 sub-phases. See the attached traffic control plan which outlines anticipated sub-phases.
As a part of this project, Frew Street will be reconfigured for one-way traffic with parallel parking to conform with the recently approved Institutional Master Plan. On May 15th and 16th Frew Street will be closed to all public traffic and parking. The street will be reopened on May 17th with one-way traffic running from Tech Street to Shenley Drive.
A temporary walkway on the park side of Frew Street will be installed with crosswalks while the campus sidewalk is removed for construction from May 17th through August 18th. The ADA parking outside of Baker-Porter Hall will be temporarily relocated during the summer.
At the end of the summer the campus sidewalk will be re-opened to pedestrian traffic, ADA parking will be restored, and Frew Street will remain as a one-way road with parallel parking. Phase 2 will take place summer 2024 between Baker Hall and Posner Hall.
