Power Outages – The following campus properties are currently without power due to a Duquesne Light Company (DLC) outage:

Academic Space Impacts
- Porter Hall A21 and A21A – Significant water intrusion was discovered in both classrooms. These spaces will be closed on today, September 4, to allow for cleanup and remediation efforts.
- Porter Hall A20A – Minor water intrusion was found on the carpet near the classroom entrance. FMS crews extracted the water and deployed air movers to dry the area. The classroom remains operational.
Water Infiltration / Flooding
- Software Engineering Institute (SEI) – Water backups were discovered in the men's restroom, women's restroom, and women's locker room in the basement. The restrooms and locker rooms are currently out of service.
Minor Impacts
- Doherty Hall (D77 Corridor) – Minor water intrusion was reported in the corridor. FMS crews extracted standing water and deployed absorbent mats to prevent water from entering nearby storage spaces.

West Wing
- Water infiltrating down the stairwell into men's locker room.
Forbes Avenue & Margaret Morrison Street
- Traffic signal outage associated with the reported power outage.
Mellon Institute
- Backed-up floor drains reported in Rooms 109, 115, 117, 135, 157, and the mechanical room.
Hunt Library
- Water infiltration into A10 (physical computing lab), A5 (Fabrication lab), A22 equipment room and the women's restroom.
Scott Hall
- Water infiltration into Rooms 4N591 and 4N001 resulted in smoking electrical outlets and a fire department response.
- Water infiltration also impacted the atrium, steps/ramp area outside the Nanofabrication Facility, and a mechanical room. Onsite crew mitigated, so no equipment is impacted.
Minor Impacts
- Hammerschlag Hall (F Level)
- Doherty Hall (Rooms A324 and A325)
- Wean Hall, 5th-floor connection to Doherty Hall
- Roberts Hall hallways
The Adamson Wing has been assessed and is currently dry. Additional assessments are ongoing in other campus locations, including Baker A51 (Giant Eagle Auditorium) and MM A14.

FMS is actively responding to multiple flooding and water infiltration incidents across campus. Crews are on site addressing safety concerns, assessing damage, and prioritizing cleanup efforts based on severity. Additional staff will continue response efforts overnight.
Current impacted locations include:
· Scott Hall
o Water infiltration into rooms 4N591 and 4N001 caused electrical outlets to smoke, triggering a fire alarm response.
o Water leaking from the roof into the seating area outside the Nanofabrication Facility.
· Collaborative Innovation Center (CIC)
o Significant standing water at the driveway entrance, though conditions are improving.
o Elevators have been taken out of service due to flooding.
· Morewood / Stack'd
o Water entered through a stairwell and impacted the dining area, resulting in several inches of standing water.
· Newell-Simon Hall
o Water intrusion in the breezeway.
o Ceiling and wall leaks in the High Bay area causing interior flooding.
o Water infiltration down the stairwell into the Men's Locker Room.
· Cohon University Center (CUC)
o Water entered through the steam tunnel system and impacted the Scottland Yard area.
· 1091 Building
o Water infiltration in the basement.
· Software Engineering Institute (SEI)
o Water infiltration in Room A204.
· Forbes Avenue and Margaret Morrison Street
o Intersection impacted by flash flooding.
· Doherty Hall
o Minor roof leaks in A324 and A325
· Frew Street
o Currently closed
· Reported DQL Power Outage
o Affecting Roselawn, Woodlawn and private residents on Forbes.
