Update – FMS personnel have restored electrical and HVAC service to all areas with two known exceptions. We continue to work on the HVAC system serving part of the mezzanine in CFA. Also, clocks on the older campus central clock system are running approximately 2 hours behind. We expect to have both of these problems corrected prior to 9:00 AM.
Main Campus buildings continue to be served by only 2 Duquesne Light feeders, reducing our total electrical capacity by 1/3. Please be judicious in your use of electrical equipment. Be aware that we do not have redundant power service until Duquesne Light restores service to their electric feeder that failed. Outside service personnel will be brought in to work on the electrical equipment that failed to transfer power upon service loss.
Please report any systems that are not operating correctly to Service Response (8-2529).

SUBJECT: MAJOR MAIN Campus Electric Outage – 9/3/2015 11:50 PM
A main Duquesne Light electric feeder serving parts of Main Campus and other Oakland locations failed at approximately 11:50 PM, last night. Buildings believed to be affected are Wean Hall, Cohon University Center, Porter/Baker Hall, Margaret Morrison Apartments, Margaret Morrison Carnegie Hall, Hamburg Hall, Smith Hall and the FMS Building. FMS personnel are determining if there are other buildings without electricity. The outage has also significantly affected our ability to provide chilled water for air conditioning to main campus buildings. Backup cooling systems for Cyert Hall are being activated. Duquesne Light crews are working to restore power and FMS crews with assistance from Duquesne Light are working to reroute electric service on campus to alternate electric feeds.
Updates will be provided as more information becomes available. A scheduled update to this notice will be sent out at 6:00 AM today.
