SUBJECT:  Planned Repair of Mellon Institute Main Electrical Switchgear on Wednesday 12/21 at 1PM

On the morning of December 14, FMS attempted to reset the main electrical system in Mellon Institute and identified a fault.  Due to the seriousness of the issue, FMS has staffed Electricians 24 hour a day and expedited the manufacture/procurement of the replacement components.  Parts are expected to arrive the morning of Wednesday, 12/21 and FMS plans to implement the repair at 1PM the same day (12/21).  The work should not result in a power interruption – however you should be prepared in case an outage of normal or emergency power occurs.  Please refrain from work in fume hood from 1PM to 130PM because a power outage could interrupt fume hood exhaust.  If you have any questions about the fume hood exhaust system, please contact EH&S.  In addition, FMS will secure the elevators and central chilled water systems at 1PM to ensure they are not inadvertently affected.

If you have any questions, please contact the Service Response Center at 8-2910 or fixit@andrew.cmu.edu.
