SUBJECT: Reduce Electric Power Demand This Weekend

Due to the expected high temperatures over the next few days, we are asking you to help shed our power load tomorrow, 6/28, and throughout the weekend.

During this time, FMS personnel will be turning off air conditioning systems in unoccupied spaces and will allow temperatures to vary more widely than usual in non-critical occupied spaces.  We ask for your cooperation in this effort by doing the following:

þ  Turn off lights that are not necessary

þ  Turn off all non-essential electrical equipment

þ  Turn equipment off when you leave for the day (examples – window air conditioners, computers, printers, copiers)

þ  Notify FMS if you have non-registrar and large spaces that will be unoccupied during this timeframe

Please see the attached document for more information on demand response and why this is important.

If the temperatures remain high throughout next week, we may be asking you to continue these efforts.

Thank you for your help in making this happen.  If you have any questions, contact the Service Response Center at X2910 or fixit@andrew.cmu.edu.
