SUBJECT: Mellon Institute Steam Outage 9/28 5AM-5PM

High pressure steam service to Mellon Institute will be offline for an emergency repair on Thursday, 9/28, from 5AM to 5PM.  The outage is required to repair an active steam leak in a vault on the main distribution line.  University of Pittsburgh staff and contractors will be completing the emergency repair.  

Mellon Institute and SEI are the only buildings affected.

In Mellon Institute, the steam outage will affect process equipment like sterilization and cage washers.  FMS technicians will adjust HVAC systems and space temperatures/humidity will be maintained within a wider band than normal.  Domestic hot water supply capacity will be lower than normal.

In the SEI building, FMS technicians will adjust HVAC systems and space temperatures will be maintained within a wider band than normal.
