REMINDER – Zoom discussion meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, 12/5, at 9AM to share details of the upcoming Wean Hall Comprehensive Space Documentation/Evaluation project.  If you are interested in attending, please contact Shannon Wetzel at swetzel@andrew.cmu.edu.

The project team received several advance questions regarding the nature and intent of the study.

The Wean Hall Comprehensive Space Documentation & Evaluation project is a part of the university's Enterprise Space Strategies (ESS) initiative, which is co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the Division of Operations.

The ESS team is charged with comprehensively cataloging and characterizing all Carnegie Mellon space (size, physical condition, A21-revenue recovery use, building code compliance, accessibility, security systems, indoor air quality, etc.).   This is a decision-support initiative, and a primary goal is to collect and curate accurate and reliable space-related data so that each college/school/department has the information they need to make informed organizational decisions.

While the College of Engineering is assessing CoE space campus-wide, the comprehensive study of Wean Hall is an Enterprise Space Strategies initiative.

If anyone is interested in more detail regarding the Enterprise Space Strategies initiative or in exploring a similar study, please contact the Director of Enterprise Space Information Management, Jeremy Smith (smithj@andrew.cmu.edu).

SUBJECT: Wean Hall Comprehensive Space Documentation/Evaluation –DISCUSSION MEETING 12/05 9AM

The College of Engineering & FMCS are conducting a joint study to document and evaluate their spaces on campus. The goals of the study are (i) to validate the space database and (ii) to perform an evaluation of spaces to strategize future renovations/maintenance needs accordingly. The study requires performing physical walkthroughs and capturing & digitizing the existing conditions (3D scanning & taking 360-degree pictures).

Wean Hall has been identified as the first phase of the 2-phase study. Architects and engineers will tour each space accompanied by a staff member from FMCS or CDFD. The walkthroughs are tentatively scheduled for the week of 12/18 (and the week of 01/03 if needed).

There will be a ZOOM meeting next Tuesday, 12/05, at 9AM to discuss the details of these walkthroughs. Please send an email to Shannon Wetzel at swetzel@andrew.cmu.edu if you would like to be invited to this meeting.
