SUBJECT: Freezing Temps – Help Protect Your Spaces – Winter Break Preparation

Last night temperatures dropped below freezing.  Although temperatures will increase slightly over the next few days, the lows will still dip below freezing for multiple nights over the 10 day weather outlook.

As winter break approaches the campus density will continue to decrease.  It is imperative that each department walk and verify spaces are prepared for winter break, to include closing and locking all windows.  Many freezing incidents that occur during a drop in temperature are preventable.  Below is a list of windows that were found open last night.  If you are in need of assistance, and are experiencing hot/cold temperatures within your spaces, please email fixit at fixit@andrew.cmu.edu or submit a work order at Service Requests – Facilities Management Services – Carnegie Mellon University (cmu.edu) for our team to investigate.  Thanks for your assistance in protecting the campus.
