UPDATE: PWSA has completed their test shut and FMS plumbers are restoring water service to buildings. PWSA needs to have another shutdown in the middle of the night one day during the period 4/8 – 4/13 to make the actual repairs to their line. They have tentatively proposed a start time of 10:00 PM with an expected completion by 6:00 AM but have not determined a date. Please contact Marty Altschul (412-5275686, ma3q@andrew.cmu.edu) if we have specific requests for when this would have the least impact on occupants. Once a date has been set, we will meet to plan our activities during this shutdown.

SUBJECT: PWSA Water Test Shut 5th Ave 20″ line Monday, 4/1/2024 7:30 AM – 1:00 PM
PWSA will be performing a “test shut” of the 20″ water main that runs along Fifth Avenue from Clyde Street to the intersection with Craig Street and then up North Craig Street to Bayard St. The only Carnegie Mellon occupied buildings that will be affected are:
Fifth-Clyde Residence Hall
4705 Fifth Ave (Fifth Neville Apartments)
4721 Fifth Avenue
4700 Fifth Ave (Residence on Fifth) – Fire protection service only. Domestic water service to this building will not be disrupted.
Water will be turned off at 7:30 AM and will be restored when PWSA completes its work which is expected to be no later than 1:00 PM.

Tomorrow's test shut will occur at 10:00 AM assuming the broken valve can be repaired earlier tomorrow morning.
