UPDATE – The National Weather Service has extended the heat advisory through 8pm on Friday, 6/27 due to continued extreme temperature conditions.  The Energy Reduction event originally scheduled for 6/23 through 6/25 will now be extended through Friday, 6/27.  This is as a result of the extremely high heat index and the continued pressure on the electrical grid during peak hours.

As a reminder, you can expect –

· Occupied offices, classrooms and other areas will be slightly warmer than usual from 2pm to 8pm

· Occupied housing buildings are exempt from these setbacks

· Unoccupied offices, classrooms and other areas will have lighting and HVAC turned off from 2pm to 8pm.

If there are any sensitive areas with high level functions occurring during this time, please contact fixit@andrew.cmu.edu so that we can ensure those spaces are not affected.  We will be referring to 25 live for scheduling.

SUBJECT: Energy Reduction Events 6/23 – 6/25

The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning from 11am today, Monday, June 23rd through 8pm on Wednesday, June 25th.

We are expecting to participate in a campus wide energy reduction event each day in an effort to reduce energy demand across the grid.  This is as a result of the extremely high heat index, high temperatures, and projected spike in the electrical grid demand.

To do our part in reducing the load on the electrical grid, you can expect:

· Occupied offices, classrooms and other areas will be slightly warmer than usual from 2pm to 8pm.

Thanks for your cooperation in this matter.  As a reminder, this is expected to occur today, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week.
