SUBJECT: Summer Masonry Work at MMCH
This summer, the damaged decorative terra cotta tile on the facade of Margaret Morrison Carnegie Hall is being replaced. Restoration work is occurring on the west and south elevations. Contractors are erecting scaffolding this week, and work will start next week, on 5/18, removing the damaged terracotta pieces.
While this work is on the exterior of the building, the demolition of the existing terracotta will be noisy and dusty and may cause vibrations in adjacent rooms. Please keep windows along the West elevation facing the tennis courts closed while work is being done. The entrance at the south end of the building may be temporarily closed for short intervals during the day while terra cotta is replaced. More information will be available when these closures occur.
Work is expected to be completed by the end of July.
Please contact CDFD Project Manager, Jan Held, at jheld@cmu.edu or 412-527-5627 if you have any questions or concerns.
