SUBJECT: Closure of Lower Hamerschlag Drive  for Crane Removal 11/1/2014

On Saturday November 1, 2014 at 6:00 am through at 6:00 pm Saturday November 1, 2014 lower Hamerschlag Drive at the south (FMS) side of the Mehrabian Collaborative Innovation Center (CIC) will be closed to all vehicular traffic.

Please Call Campus Police (412-268-2323) for emergency access to the road.

Vehicular access on lower Hamerschlag Drive will be closed to the FMS Physical Plant building, Roberts Hall loading dock, the Gates Parking Garage and Gates High Bay, Doherty Hall loading dock and Wean Hall loading dock from 6:00 am Saturday November 1, 2014 through 6:00 pm Saturday November 1, 2014.

During these twelve (12) hours Maxim Crane Works will be removing a 300 ton crawler type crane used for the erection of the Scott Hall steel structure.

The complex rigging necessary to safely remove this crane necessitates that no traffic be permitted on lower Hamerschlag Drive during this time of 6:00 am Saturday November 1, 2014 through 6:00 pm Saturday November 1, 2014. The construction area for the crane’s boom will extend from Roberts loading dock and into the CIC garage.

The City of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon police, paramedic and fire departments will have unrestricted access to the Physical Plant building, Roberts Hall, the Gates Parking Garage and SCS complex, Doherty Hall and Wean Hall during the closure of lower Hamerschlag Drive through an emergency access only temporary road through the Scott Hall construction site from Frew Street.

Parking will be available free of charge in the East Campus and Morewood locations during the interruption.   If you have any questions please e-mail   Max Dorosa, project manager, at maxd@andrew.cmu.edu.
