FROM: Service Response Center
SUBJECT: Duquesne Light Power Blip Affecting Mellon Institute
Duquesne Light experienced a brief power disturbance last night around 12:48AM that affected the Mellon Institute building.
FMS crews are checking building systems and will continue to monitor operations. We recommend that departments review equipment and systems to confirm normal operation, particularly any sensitive research, laboratory, computing, refrigeration, or process equipment.
Utility power disturbances can cause breakers to trip, momentary voltage sags, phase imbalances, or power spikes that may impact sensitive electrical components. Please verify that critical equipment and operating systems are online and functioning as expected.
FMS staff are available for on-site support to assist with anything that cannot be reviewed remotely. Please contact the FMCS Service Response Center at 412-268-2910 if assistance is needed.
UPDATE – An additional power disturbance occurred at Mellon Institute a few minutes ago.
Departments are encouraged to verify the operation of critical equipment and systems.
FMS personnel will continue to monitor building systems and updates will be shared as additional information becomes available.
