Facilities, Infrastructure and Risk Management (FIRM)

Facilities Management & Campus Services

TO:  Shutdown Group, Facility Coordinators

FROM:  Service Response Center

SUBJECT: Energy Reduction Events Tomorrow 6/11 2PM-6PM

An energy reduction exercise will be conducted tomorrow, Thursday, June 11.  We anticipate multiple demand response curtailment mandates throughout the summer and will communicate each time those occur.  Typically, they can be expected during times of high heat index, high temperatures and projected spikes in the electrical grid demand.

Tomorrow's energy reduction event will occur from 2pm to 6pm, in an effort to reduce energy demand across the grid.

To do our part in reducing the load on the electrical grid, you can expect:

· Occupied offices, classrooms and other areas will be slightly warmer than usual from 2pm to 6pm

· Occupied housing buildings are exempt from these setbacks

· Unoccupied offices, classrooms and other areas will have lighting and HVAC turned off from 2pm to 6pm.

If there are any sensitive areas with high level functions occurring during this time, please contact fixit@andrew.cmu.edu so that we can ensure those spaces are not affected.  We will be referring to 25 live for scheduling.

Thanks for your cooperation in this matter.
